This is a skill-oriented course to provide hands-on practice and project work on-camera operation. In this course a student will study the techniques of camera operation, lighting techniques and photography composition.

Course Objectives:

  • Set up the Camera Equipment prior to shoot.
  • Prepare for shoot.
  • Operate Camera during the shoot.

After completing this programme-

  • The trainee will be exposed to digital camera handling
  • The trainee will be able to develop an understanding of photography techniques and creativity.
  • The trainee will be an expert in videography, product photography, fashion photography and nature photography

Progression Pathway:-

  • Can join the media industry as a cameraman.
  • Can work in his own production house.
  • Can be a professional cameraman.

Learning Record:

The trainee will submit a Practice/Project/Learning record after each class/session.

Assessment Process:

  • The assessment agencies should have an expert to conduct the assessment NOS wise, and every trainee should score a minimum of 70% in the overall  assessment.
  • The assessment of the theory/knowledge will be based on a written test/viva-voce or both, while the skill test shall be hands-on practical.

Course Syllabus/Contents:

Module 1: What is Videography (6hrs)

Practice

  • Role of a Camera Operator, Body, Lens, Viewfinder, Memory Cards
  • Camera Setting: Shutter, Aperture, Sensor, Aspect Ratio, camera exposure, Camera Gain, white balance, black balance, Pre-set, IRIS, Focal point.
Module 2: Camera Aesthetics (3hrs)
Practice – TV News Production Photography, Rule of thirds. Multi-Camera set up, Talk show -Multi-Camera Set Up.
Module 3: Dynamics of Videography (6hrs) -2

Practice

  • Lens Management: Use of Zoom Lenses, Zooming In, Zooming Out, Aerial Shot,
  • Types of Shots: Extreme Long Shot, Long Shot, Mid Long Shot, Mid Shot , Over-The-Shoulder-Shot, Mid Close-up, Close Up, Extreme Close Up, Wide Shot, Point of View Shot.
Module 3: Dynamics of Videography (6hrs) -2

Practice

  • Lens Management: Use of Zoom Lenses, Zooming In, Zooming Out, Aerial Shot,
  • Types of Shots: Extreme Long Shot, Long Shot, Mid Long Shot, Mid Shot , Over-The-Shoulder-Shot, Mid Close-up, Close Up, Extreme Close Up, Wide Shot, Point of View Shot.

List of Projects (Any one project is to be completed. Maximum group size is 4)

  1. Create a small video using single camera.
  2. Create a small video using multiple cameras.
  3. Create video using all filters.
  4. Create a video using all techniques.
