Design of Wide Band Conformal Coplanar Benz Shaped Circular Ring Antenna for C And X Band Applications

A Conformal Coplanar Benz Shaped Circular Ring (CBSCR) patch antenna operates in the upper C-band and X-band region with compact structure is presented in this work. Patch is etched on a polyimide substrate with dielectric constant 3.5 and height 0.8mm. The proposed ring antenna has compact size of 20×20 mm2 is feed with coplanar waveguide which provides wide impedance bandwidth of 4.34GHz from 6.95GHz to 11.29GHz with resonant frequency of 9.08GHz. CST Microwave Studio is used to design and simulate the proposed ring patch antenna. The simulation results show the return loss of -12dB, -20.34dB and -15.73dB at 7.5GHz, 9.08GHz and 9.8GHz with a gain of 2.36dBi, 2.46dBi and 2.52dBi respectively and the radiation efficiency is greater than 85% all over the operating band.
